Heath Landscape in Twente

A beautifully textured vintage landscape painting, full of soft sky, leafy trees and wild heathland colour. Tall trees rise into a pale blue sky, while the foreground is alive with loose, expressive brushwork in greens, ochres, creams and dusky mauve-pink tones.

The reverse carries a handwritten note reading “Heath Landscape in Twente, Eastern Holland, by Dr. A. Prinsen”, along with a previous ownership note. While the artist and provenance have not been independently verified, this little label gives the painting a lovely sense of place and history, a found note from a life before.

There is a wonderful feeling of air and movement to this piece: softly worked clouds, flickering leaves, and richly textured heathland that rewards a closer look. The pale frame keeps the whole painting fresh and easy to place, making it a beautiful addition to a bedroom, hallway, sitting room or layered gallery wall.

Condition Note

Vintage condition with age-related character. The painted surface has visible texture and brushwork, with some small marks and signs of age visible on close inspection. The pale frame shows light wear, scuffs and small marks. The reverse has a handwritten label and age-related wear to the backing. Fitted with hanging wire. Please see photographs for details.
