Art that feels at home

Choosing a print you love is the easy part — knowing where and how to hang it can feel harder. This guide will help you place your artwork with confidence, whatever your space.

By room

Living room

The living room is the most natural home for statement art. A large A1 or 50×70 print above a sofa creates an instant focal point. For a gallery wall, group three to five prints at eye level, keeping the centre of the arrangement around 145–150cm from the floor.

Bedroom

Opt for prints with softer palettes — sage, dusty pink, warm cream — for a restful feel. A pair of A3 or A2 prints either side of a bed works beautifully, or try a single large print above the headboard for something more dramatic.

Hallway

Hallways reward bold choices. A tall vertical print or a staggered column of smaller prints draws the eye down the space. Keep frames consistent for a cohesive look in a narrow corridor.

Kitchen

Botanical prints feel especially at home in kitchens. A2 or A3 prints work well on the wall beside or above shelving. Choose subjects with warmth — lemons, herbs, flowers — that complement the everyday rhythm of the room.

Bathroom

Smaller prints (A4 or A3) in white or natural frames bring a spa-like calm. Avoid hanging directly above a bath or shower where steam may cause damage over time.

By wall colour

  • White or off-white walls — work with almost any print. Let colour and composition lead your choice.
  • Warm neutrals (sand, stone, terracotta) — prints with earthy greens, ochres and botanical subjects feel especially at home.
  • Dark or moody walls (navy, forest green, charcoal) — prints with pale backgrounds or high contrast pop beautifully. Natural wood or gold frames add warmth.
  • Pale pink or blush — soft florals and delicate botanical prints complement without competing.

Practical tips

  • Hang at eye level — the centre of your artwork should sit around 145–150cm from the floor in most rooms.
  • Use a template first — cut out paper the size of your print and use painter’s tape to mock it up on the wall before you commit.
  • Leave breathing room — aim for at least 10–15cm of wall visible around the print, more for larger pieces.
  • Consider the light — natural light brings out the best in giclée prints. Avoid direct sunlight over long periods to protect the artwork.
