About

I’m Catherine, the artist behind Kitty McCall.
My work is rooted in colour, pattern and imagined landscapes. For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to the rhythm of repeating shapes and the way colour can transform a space or mood. Long before the studio existed, I filled sketchbooks with drawings of strange plants, abstract flowers and landscapes that seemed to grow across the page.
Kitty McCall began as a way of turning those drawings into objects that could live beyond the studio, artworks that people could bring into their homes and live with every day.
Over time the work has evolved into a series of visual chapters, each exploring a different imagined world. Some are built from bold graphic patterns, others from invented botanicals and dreamlike landscapes. Although the imagery changes, the thread running through everything is colour, vibrant palettes and layered compositions designed to bring energy and atmosphere to a room.

Most pieces begin as hand-drawn sketches in the studio. I develop the patterns and compositions slowly, experimenting with colour combinations and scale until the design begins to feel balanced. From there the work moves into print, where the drawings become artworks designed specifically for interiors.

I love the idea that art becomes part of someone’s everyday environment, something you see in passing, live with over time, and notice differently as the light changes through the day.

Each print is produced to be a lasting object, something made to be lived with rather than stored away.
Kitty McCall is ultimately about creating spaces filled with colour, imagination and visual rhythm, artworks that bring a sense of energy and presence into the rooms they inhabit.
