Catherine, artist behind Kitty McCall

I’m Catherine, the artist behind Kitty McCall. My work begins with pattern. The repetition of shape, the rhythm of colour, the small details that change how a space feels. It’s how I understand the world, and it’s the structure behind everything I make.

The studio grew from a belief that art should actively shape a room. Not fill it, not decorate it, but bring energy, colour and a sense of presence. Over time, the work has become more focused and more intentional. What began as bold, graphic prints has evolved into imagined botanicals, layered landscapes and studies that form self-contained worlds.

I work from my studio on the south coast, creating in chapters rather than collections. Each chapter develops slowly, guided by observation and instinct. Some pieces become prints, some translate into textiles, and some remain in sketchbooks until they find their moment.

Kitty McCall sits at the meeting point of colour, pattern and structure. The aim is always the same: to make work that holds attention, feels alive, and earns its place in the home.
