As Lost Kingdom has grown, birds began to appear.
Not as symbols. Not as decoration. More as a natural extension of the landscape something that could move through it.
The earlier works were rooted in stillness. Dense growth. Layered colour. The birds bring a different kind of energy. They introduce direction. A sense of watchfulness. A presence that feels alert within the overgrowth.
They aren’t separate from the world. They belong to it.
Each one sits deep within the foliage, colour against colour, nothing receding, no open sky to escape into. I wanted them to feel embedded rather than placed.
Lost Kingdom continues to unfold this way. Not in abrupt changes, but in gradual expansions. One form leading to another.
The world holds more than I first thought.
